The day we all wait for. The day we get to share the good news of exponential growth with our students and financial freedom. How to create generational wealth on small $$$ if they only start yesterday. A must have in EVERY MAT class. A demo for each class Intro. Lets talk about our retirement too!
An overview of the STEM Academic Research and Training (START) Program at Wake Tech will be provided in addition to presentations by student interns and their mentors. Students will share about the experiences from on-site visits to NC Department Of Transportation in Raleigh.
Discover dynamic strategies to bring data to life in Intro Stats! Learn to leverage interactive tools and creative activities to help students explore, visualize, and analyze patterns, turning real-world data into engaging, student-centered learning experiences tailored for your classes.
Attendees will be given a list of counting numbers from 1-100. Each number has a secret code tied to it. During the presentation we will collect samples, after which the attendees are challenged to find the elements that reveal the code. A great step into the world of Number Theory.
This will be an interactive session where we will discuss best practices, common challenges, and the use of technology in Precalculus and Calculus classes. The goal is for everyone to leave with fresh ideas and strategies that we can implement in our courses.
The community college classroom represents one of the most diverse classroom environments in the world. This workshop will explore strategies for connecting with and meeting the needs of a diverse student body and providing practical insights to support.
We will facilitate a discussion on transitioning from 16 week classes to 8 week classes. We hope to hear best practices/lessons learned from colleges who have made the transition as well as generate ideas from everyone. Topics will include: formats, course structure, assignments, and weights.
Use this time to stop by the Exhibits and discuss your future classroom or online needs or ideas you have for improvements of existing resources. NCMATYC is very appreciative of the support that each Exhibitor provides that enriches our conference.

The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has altered education, providing powerful tools for learning, research, problem-solving, and productivity. However, this progression also raises concerns about academic integrity. As AI-generated content becomes increasingly sophisticated, educators face challenges in distinguishing between genuine student work and AI-generated submissions. This presentation explores the intersection of AI and academic honesty by examining the ethical implications, potential risks of AI misuse, and strategies for maintaining integrity in mathematics education. We will discuss how AI can both support and threaten academic standards, highlight solutions regarding summative and formative assessment, and discuss ways in which AI can be used as a beneficial tool in the mathematics classroom if used appropriately. We can harness AI’s benefits while upholding the values of originality and critical thinking by being open about when and how AI tools are to be used to promote success.
